Pumpkin Carving & Fall Activities

Please join TAKO on Saturday, October 18th from 4-6:30
pm at Emma Harvet Square located on the Peninsula in Iowa
City for our Annual Pumpkin Carving Event. We have plenty
of carving kits and pumpkin patterns and supplies. Bring
your own pumpkin or carve one of ours! We will also have
other Halloween and Fall related activities!
This event is FREE and OPEN to the public. A light snack
of caramel apples and hot apple cider will be provided.
Advance registration is requested, but not required. If
you plan to bring a group of 6 or more, e-mail email@example.com;
this will help us to plan for equipment and food preparation.
Remember to dress appropriately; we may get wet and dirty!
Layers are always a great option for cold weather conditions.
Bring a hat, gloves, and any other items you may need
to be comfortable in the outdoors. You may want to bring
a binoculars and a camera!
To get to the event, take Foster Road west from Dubuque
Street towards the Thornberry Off-Leash Dog Park. The
park is located at the corner of Foster Road and Walker
Circle. Parking is available, but limited. People are
encouraged to ride bikes to the event, walk or take the
city bus. The Manville Heights bus stops at the park.

Embrace Your Geekness Day
Terry Trueblood Recreation Area, Iowa City
Come celebrate Embrace Your Geekness
Day with TAKO. Adults gather your kids, come and embrace
your geeky side with fun, science related activities. Be
prepared to get wet and possible sprayed with bubbles and
washable paint. TAKO will be hosting an event
Saturday, July 12th at the Iowa Citys Terry Trueblood
Recreation Area. To get there take Gilbert Street/Sand Road
south to intersection with McCollister Blvd. Stay tuned
to the website/Facebook for updates and cancellations.
Please bring a squirt gun/water blaster/other
to the event if you have one. Participants should dress
to get wet and muddy. We may be using paint and dyes. Dress
in layers and be prepared for a range of weather conditions.
Bring a hat, work gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect
repellant, drinking water, and any other items you may need
to be comfortable in the outdoors. Participants are encouraged
to bring a digital camera and/or binoculars.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM. This event
is FREE and OPEN to the public. Advance registration is
