Fishing with TAKO and the Hawkeye Fly Fishing Association

Come and Learn to Fly Fish with Take A Kid Outdoors (TAKO) and the Hawkeye Fly Fishing Association (HFFA) at Liberty Centre, North Liberty. HFFA will be presenting information on Fly fishing. Come learn to fly cast and to tie flies. Maybe even catch that big fish! This is a wonderful event that is great for kids and adults of all ages. Bring a fishing pole if you have one, if not some will be available.

Come out and enjoy the warm weather. Participants should dress to get wet possibly muddy. Dress in layers and be prepared for a range of weather conditions. Bring a hat, work gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellant, drinking water, and any other items you may need to be comfortable in the outdoors. Participants are encouraged to bring a digital camera and/or binoculars.

Liberty Center is located on the southwest quadrant of the Penn Street and Highway 965 intersection in North Liberty.

Note: If you want to fish, a fishing license is required for those older than 16 years of age. Licenses can be purchased online or local stores such as HyVee and Fin & Feather.

Lunch will be provided. Note: This is not a peanut/nut free event.

This event is FREE and OPEN to the public. Advance registration is requested, but not required. Please contact Judy Joyce at earthview01@gmail.com if you plan to bring a large group as it helps with planning for equipment and food for participants.

Embrace Your Geekness Day

Terry Trueblood Recreation Area, Iowa City

Come celebrate “Embrace Your Geekness Day” with TAKO. Adults gather your kids, come and embrace your geeky side with fun, science related activities. Be prepared to get wet and possible sprayed with bubbles and “washable paint”. TAKO will be hosting an event Saturday, July 12th at the Iowa City’s Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. To get there take Gilbert Street/Sand Road south to intersection with McCollister Blvd. Stay tuned to the website/Facebook for updates and cancellations.

Please bring a squirt gun/water blaster/other to the event if you have one. Participants should dress to get wet and muddy. We may be using paint and dyes. Dress in layers and be prepared for a range of weather conditions. Bring a hat, work gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellant, drinking water, and any other items you may need to be comfortable in the outdoors. Participants are encouraged to bring a digital camera and/or binoculars.
