(Originally scheduled for April 24-Rescheduling info will be posted to the website)

Take A Kid Outdoors (TAKO) will be hosting an early morning Breakfast Hike with Lewis & Clark On Saturday April 24th 9:00am til Noon. Ambitious hikers begin at Echo Valley State Park where they meet Lewis & Clark and hike to the Houg Educational Farm near Elgin, Iowa where a free frontier breakfast will be served around 10am. If you are not up to the hike, simply show up at the Houg Farm and help prepare the frontier breakfast. As part of earth day, we will be planting a tree, cleaning up the trail and learning how Lewis & Clark enjoyed discovering Northeast Iowa. The new Amish Bakery in Clermont will have samples of their baked goods and will have items for sale. The event is FREE and OPEN to the public.

Participants should dress in layers and be prepared for a range of weather conditions. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellant, drinking water, and any other items you may need to be comfortable in the outdoors. Bring your camera or binoculars for added fun!

The Houg Educational Farm is easy to find. It located at the intersection of Hazel and Hornet Road in Fayette County. Simply take Highway 18 East from West Union to Golden Road. Go East on Golden Road towards Elgin and turn South onto Hazel Road and follow signs.
