June
Wetland Planting with TAKO
Monday, June 21, 3:30-7:00pm
Valley View Drive, Decorah, IA

TAKO's June event was a wetland planting party on the first day of summer, Monday, June 21, 2010. Several kids (and adults) helped plant almost 300 transplants and thousands of seeds on one acre of land along the Upper Iowa River in Decorah, Iowa. Judy Krieg, wetland scientist and geologist with EarthView Environmental, talked to the kids about wetland plants and taught them how to plant and seed.

The wetland planting turned out to be both educational and fun for the kids. Most of the kids got pretty muddy, especially after the rain started falling- but they all agreed that the rain felt good on the hot & humid day.

Hot dogs, beans, cherries, cookies and refreshments were provided. The event was FREE and OPEN to the public, and was co-sponsored by the Winneshiek County Engineering Department.
